There are three words that go together as one: mind, body and soul. You hear that over and over again as one. Yet the body, an equal, under-respected, advisor, gets put at the tale end of the mind and soul in our day to day activities and thoughts.

There is nothing more direct than when your body gives you a gut scream when someone wants you to do something you don’t want to do, but your head says you should. There is nothing more true than when you get an exciting idea and your body is fizzy inside and nudges you to get going towards the next step. There is nothing louder or more loving than when your body lays you down in exhaustion saying, enough, stop, and take a rest. What about the immediate gratitude you get from your body after a great walk, dance, or exercise for letting it express itself.

Our body is our vehicle so we can express our mind, soul, and communicate so we can share. This vehicle is beyond wonder, we’re still figuring out this intelligent piece of work. Yet, why do many of us ignore it? Is it because we haven’t been able to explain it 100%, and our brain needs proof before we act. Our brain is language based so we tend to give it more power, because we want explanation and proof.

When I’m tired and my mind says you are too tired to go to a Zumba class, my body nudges me to go. I experience my legs, arms, and torso all thanking me for letting them play and ignoring my “don’t go” message from my brain. Our body by-passes all of those annoying tapes running through our brain. It’s a direct communicator not needing any language. It’s instantaneous. How great is that? Embellish the mystery, and listen to your body.

What ever you are focusing on right now, you body will signal a YES, No, or DO nothing yet. Think about how it’s always in the present. Yes, you store memory in it and past activities have taken its toll on your body, but right now, it will signal you on what’s best for you right now. You pile all the ‘right-now messages up, act on them and eventually you will see who you were meant to be. Put your mind aside and watch how your soul works through you body. Let you body make decisions first, and then let you mind help how you deliver it. Give it its equal due.

Comparing is ingrained in our speech, and it's root effect challenges our self worth. Leave it out for a day...and feel the difference! Continue reading →

You will be amazed to see how you feel is you go through just one day without comparing. First, look at how many times it shows up, in your silent thoughts:

First morning glance in the mirror: “Whoa, I might has gained a pound from yesterday”

Did I say or do anything stupid yesterday

Is that a new wrinkle?

Going to sales meeting, “She sold more than me!”

I hope when I speak, they can see how smart I am.

I don’t understand, but I’m not going to ask…don’t want to seem unaware.

I want to sing along, but they’ll laugh.

She is the most beautiful girl in the room.

All of these, and you can fill in many more, are a form of comparing for self-worth. It is a form of not being your self, because it is based in “not good enough”. And how do you conclude your are not good enough, you compare on the outside. What if instead of saying, most beautiful girl, you deleted “most” and just said, what a beautiful girl. No one would be negated, especially you, and no comparing. Remember there is no comparison in spirit, there isn’t even language, and room for everyone to be great. Comparing is for making informed decisions, not for deciding your self worth. Try it today, it is liberating.

To be the star of your own movie means unleashing your intuition. Your intuition knows what’s right for you, and what to learn from every situation you encounter on a daily basis. It knows who you truly are as no other could and your magnificent potential. Everyone is born with a unique talent and is meant to use it…it’s your gift and purpose for the world. Your intuition is the key to manifesting your talent. No other outside source has this information, so take direction from within first. Then wrap your analytical mind around the message from intuition. This is how to function fully in the world.

What is intuition? Some think of it as psychic ability, clairvoyance, etc. However, we all have the basic skills of intuition. We all relate to it as our ‘gut feelings’ and ‘instincts’. We all can remember times when we couldn’t explain logically why we knew what to do, and no one agreed with us, but it turned out to be the perfect thing to do. So why not use this untapped tool everyday in every decision we make. At the very least your life will be much more interesting.

Intuition is the voice of our spiritual side and as individual as our fingerprints. It is not from the analytical or reasoning mind. It is our inner knowing that has been with us since birth. It is most easily seen or felt in our bodies. When we encounter someone who is not good for us, we immediately feel uneasy in our stomachs. When we are not speaking our truth to someone, our throat tightens. These are messages from intuition. Listen to intuition as it is for your higher good. Take guidance from it.

Another way intuition speaks to us is through daydreaming, night dreams and imagination. These are out of the reasoning mind. Once intuition comes through, then wrap your reasoning mind around it to make it happen in the outside world. Coincidences and synchronicities are wonderful examples of intuition and universe working together to give your opportunities to step up to your power. Don’t ignore them.

You can access intuition by putting all thoughts aside of past and future. Empty your mind of thoughts and ask a question…your head must be empty for intuition to come through. An image, feeling or knowing will occur, but remember the first image will be the right one. As soon as you start thinking about it and fitting it into reason, you’ve stepped out of intuition. Be still and patient. You will either get a knowing right then, or something will come up for you throughout the day in a book, on TV, a friend you run into, etc.

Again, intuition is the first thought, feeling or image that comes to you. It’s usually subtle and gently, unless you keep ignoring it. If you have ignored it for years, it is dormant…time to use it again. It is there, it never goes away. Intuition helps you tap into the talent you were born with and can be used for the betterment of the world. This could be anything from a good salesman, to one who encourages, one who organizes, one who makes us laughs, bakes great cakes, etc. Once you use intuition on a habitual basis, your thinking mind and intuition will fit together like a hand in a glove.

Let’s look at how we strive for perfection in an average day. We start our day with inner chatter that looks something like this:

We eat in our kitchen, gotta go on a diet, look at our home and what might be wrong with it or lacking…

What is at the heart of all this is self-comparison? Not connecting to or energizing our spiritual life of self-magnificence. In the physical there is always something better and worse, a no win situation. We think if we make it perfect, we won’t be caught in that game. Comparison can be helpful, if we use if for positive learning, but not for the negative of tearing down or criticizing. I’ll never forget when I got a “C” on that first hard test at school where I was so grateful to have understood most of it, but quickly learned from the classroom that this grade was not “good” enough. Within a split second, I went from feeling grateful and smarter to feeling devastated and stupid. I chose to believe and energize what the outside world said (not good enough)… instead of what my inner higher self knew (learning more everyday in my own gifted way). The perfection of imperfection.

Another case in point, 16 years ago my husband and I bought our first house in Miami after years of saving. I was ecstatic choosing colors, decorating, planting, and tiling my kitchen wall. When the house was ready we had a party to “show off” our house. As people walked in I noticed some looks of “how could you live in such a cookie cutter small house?” As I thought of their homes, I thought “yes” it is small. The next day I awoke to the aroma of my new home, my favorite colors, and what gratitudeand joy I felt in my new bed. I quickly remembered the night before and I chose to jump into the world of comparisons, and I allowed my joy to leave. I could blame them for being shallow, but now I know they were teachers for me to learn what I was lacking, faith in myself. I am grateful.

The perfection of these two stories was the necessary ingredients to know myself, for developing my gifts as a compassionate group teacher and also decorator. Pick a comparison story from your library, and see what really energized you before you started comparing, what talents were you using, and hook into that feeling that brought you joy. What lesson were you learning about your magnificent self. What are your life episodes perfectly teaching you. Become aware! Don’t get stuck in perfectionism in the outside world, you are perfectly enough already. Find yourself.

We all have the choice of observing and then picking what thoughts we will energize. We can energize the physical world of comparison and envy, or we can step into our spiritual world of gratitude for our talents where the perfection of our growth lives. Now I energize in the joy I feel while creating a workshop and the growth of my compassion, and in my home where I use my natural gift of decorating, creating beauty, and making a buck go far. What are yours?

Every one of us is born with a talent and therefore a purpose whether we are to use it one- on-one or in large arena, both are equally helpful and important to our planet. Remember there is no comparison in the world of spirit, just love and creativity. We individually are to work on the integrity of our life, then discover and work our purpose. Our role modeling is how we heal our world. We must be tolerant of ourselves, if we want our world to be tolerant. Let go of labels and meet people heart-to-heart. Our individual lives are the roots to our world. The time has come to be self-leaders so we don’t have to complain about who is in “power”. This starts with acceptance of the diversity of us all which leads to our unity. Accept the beauty of theperfection of imperfection.

Integrity – adherence to a code of values, incorruptibility, soundness, and completeness. Believe it or not, this is our natural state, it is our higher self. The evidence is we feel good when we’re in it, and feel bad when we’re not. Integrity or lack of shows up in our health and circumstances around us.

Phase I: Let’s step back to your interview for your current position. You and your new employer agreed on a job description and remuneration for a job well done. You wanted to do your best and hoped for growth beyond this position, your personal contract. No matter how significant the position was, deep down there was an excitement and feeling of “you’ll be glad you hired me, I am unique and will be an asset to the work.” This represented a fresh start and a new chance. You were energized and excited. What was your code of values at that time?

Phase II: Your job begins. Your main concern was to know your job, coworkers and navigate the work to your manager’s expectations. You put your best foot forward. Remember the first time your felt competent? Job well done! How did you feel during this stage, still energized? Were you code of values still in tact?

Phase III: Whoops, the honeymoon is over. Now we’ve taken our focus off of the learning and are possibly focusing on the drama around us, as we do our work. It’s natural for the newness to wear off, but are you still doing your daily best for what you were hired for…for your sake and future opportunities.

Below is a list of some behaviors you might relate to. How much do you get paid for these, and where do they fit in Phase I and II?

These behaviors are barriers that you have chosen which hide your talents and creativity. They come from past hurts…get over them. When we don’t feel unique, we feel bored and disposable. What is the key to individuality? Intuition. Think of intuition as your global position system, GPS. It shows you how to navigate your vehicle (talents and ideas) and which road to take to get to your desired destination. You are in charge of your GPS, no one else.

How do we use our GPS system? Pay attention. Just like in your car, a voice speaks to you and a map appears, with directions on where to turn, when you missed a turn, and how to get back on track. It never gives up! Your intuition acts the same way:

1. You receive a hunch, crazy idea or dream that excites you (this is a clue that your talents will be used).

2. Help appears, synchronicities: coincidences show up, a strong feeling to do or not to do something, an inner voice (heard or silent) speaks to you, an urge to call someone that pops in your mind, an article or movie hits the nail on the head…synchronicities begin!

3. Take action, don’t ignore them. At first intuition might not make sense, but it always works. It bridges our creative side with the ‘can-do’ side. Use courage!

Action Plan

This day you act with integrity, your new bumper sticker: “Values on Board”. Identify and eliminate one of the behaviors you were not hired for. This is how you transform and let go of the past. Once you eliminate one, the rest are easier to let go of.

Grab the feelings from Phase I and Phase II as fuel for you GPS system. No one can take them from you unless you allow your thoughts to focus elsewhere.

Turn on your GPS system and follow it. Where you are in your job right now is one of your roads. Navigate the best you can. We only have the present to work on. What you do now leads to what is ahead. Integrity and intuition are the tools you have to handle whatever comes your way. It will lead you to delivering your talents to a world that needs them, the best destination ever!

You were hired for your unique qualities, not as a cookie cutter, let you special qualities out! Only you have that power.

When the logical, rational mind takes over, you cut off your intuition, your creative side. Intuition is your unique map for all you do. It is the voice for your individual talent, insights and wisdom. Intuition allows synchronicities from the universe to come your way. The best part of intuition is that it connects with others for the benefit of all.

The logical mind is great for working in our physical world. It figures out how to market our products, be safe, pay bills. It organizes, makes rules, keeps score, and loves control. It is a necessary tool for living on a planet with billions of other people. However, the logical mind is at its most magnificent and helpful when it is guided from our intuitive side, “the wind beneath our wings.” Intuition is the higher purpose for our thinking mind. Without purpose from intuition, our thinking mind can be fearful, directionless and create a lot of negativity in our thoughts.

How do you know when you are using your intuitive side?
* You are in the ever changing present, with no worries from the past or the future.

* You have no concept of time. You are so engrossed, you look at the clock and can’t believe how much time has passed.

* You feel passion – the marriage of your purpose and your actions.

* Your body feels energized, not tired.

As soon as you think the words “I should” or “I better” or “I must,” you have stepped out of intuition.

How does intuition communicate with me?

* Words that come to you, out loud or silent.

* Smells, sounds, colors that stir something inside you.

* Journaling, especially with non-dominant hand.

* Body signals and chakras such as when your stomach tightens when your self esteem is threatened, or your throat tightens when you want to say a truth but are afraid.

* Lack of energy when you are in a job or situation that is not inline with your purpose.

* Have a positive attitude and a trust in the universe that there is a bigger picture than you can imagine. Intuition does not come out when there is negativity, because that would be based on past or future worries.

* Be quiet, still and in the present, with no thoughts. If a thought comes, gently let it go and get back to present. Focus on a sound or your breathing.

* Ask your question and wait for images, words, sounds, a “knowing” to pop up. The first one to pop up is the right one.

Scene III – New Business Model

Once you get in to the habit of first using your intuition and then wrapping your thinking mind around the message, accessing intuition can be fast. Whether brain storming in a business meeting, personal relationship, or problem-solving situation, all the effective answers come from intuition, which is then shared with others.

After attending an evolutionary leadership conference with Alan Seale, this is what I learned and how I have applied it to my business. Instead of starting with the goal of the results desired, start with the potential of what you want to happen. Sit with intuition, and let possibilities occur. As possibilities come to you, feel which ones resonate with you, and then wrap your reasoning mind around them to let it happen in the world.

For example I asked, “what is the potential for my having workshops?” My intuition told me “to unleash intuition to embrace all differences.” Then as I held that potential at the base, possibilities came to me that I had never thought of before. Two possibilities especially resonated with me, and since then, synchronicities, phone calls and new opportunities have come my way. If you start with results, you become narrowly focused and block any other opportunities coming through. As you go through this process, always hold the potential.

New Model: Potential + Possibilities = Results

The principles and techniques applied by Joyce Anderson are the result of on-going study and training over the past ten years. She has traveled throughout the country and completed intuition training programs conducted by Dr. Christine Page, Alan Seale, Johnathon Pape, and Gloria Karpinski, to name a few. Joyce has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Florida International University. She is currently enrolled in Future World Now, an evolutionary leadership program to raise consciousness globally. You give up and go home for the day. The next day in the shower, bingo! Just the right idea hits you. Your project is back on track, or better yet, on a different track.

What are the common threads throughout the above scenarios? The use of intuition. They all took place out of the rational, prove-it-to-me mind, and somewhere deep inside there was an intention (not a final result) that guided the creative process. The home of creativity is housed in the non-rational mind. Intuition is how this part of the mind talks to us.

When people use their creativity, they feel purposeful and empowered. One result is high morale. It’s available to everyone. What may distinguish one company from another are its people, with their unique ideas and solutions.

So, why is intuition not acknowledged in our work environment?

The first reason is that our logical mind does not believe or understand intuition. You can’t measure, prove, or hold it, which is what our logic demands. Our logical mind helps us understand the past so we can prepare for the future. That is its job. However, intuition is found in the present, with no past or future to influence it, so creativity and answers have no limits. The logical mind and intuition use different time zones. Intuition is always available in the present. Once the intuitive idea is recognized, then the logical mind uses its experience to evaluate and put the idea into action. It’s a great team!

The second reason is that one might not understand intuition. It is the world behind your eyes, the knowledge you were born with, and the flow of inspiration. Why not use it? Intuition surfaces when you have a positive intention. This inner knowing answers you, but not in the rational mind. It shows up in flash answers, dreams, daydreams, coincidences, meditations, emotional and physical feelings, gut hunches, journaling, nature walks, picking up just-the-right book, just-the-right person showing up, etc. It’s always present and devoid of past or future worries, and is therefore fearless.

Fear of being responsible for your idea is another reason we ignore intuition. It is personal and reflects your talents and passions. Since intuition is in the present, it doesn’t show us how our ideas will turn out, so we don’t trust it. Now we are doubly afraid to act on our idea. However, intuition will offer answers along the way, as well as work with others; this is where trust fits. Plus, how boring would it be to skip to the end of the movie and miss the adventure?

One of the biggest reasons we don’t use intuition: “Intuition is that woman thing!” Ok, if you think only women have inner knowing, creativity, and hunches, then your intuition is definitely blocked. Enough said.

We seldom use intuition in the workplace because we don’t know how to talk about it or use it. Imagine a man working in the warehouse who has a crazy dream on how to improve delivery. This man knows his job intimately, and day by day, he gets more excited as he sees the solution coming together, perhaps there is just one piece he can’t figure out. But if his dream was encouraged and acted on, it would allow others to come forth with the missing piece … synchronicity. The problem is: how could he approach the hierarchical ladder about this crazy dream? Chances are he couldn’t! But he could if he knew that this type of creative problem-solving was respected and that Thomas Edison did it!

In making a decision with intuition, consider your body being a Geiger counter, or a pendulum when getting an answer. Here is an exercise you can do based on an NLP exercise from Robert Diltz. I have tweaked it to be an intuition tool.

1) Have a decision you want to make.

2) Get 6 pieces of blank paper.

3) Quest your question down on one page.

4) Write your first solution on another page. Then write your second solution down. At this point you probably have already figured out an either/or solution. Now write a third solution. Then a fourth and a fifth. Now you are entering into a creative space because you haven’t figured out all these answers. Just make them up, have fun with them. It doesn’t matter how crazy they are…they are coming from somewhere. Remember to write down the thoughts as they come to you without judging them.

5) Lay the five answers a few feet away from each other on the floor.

6) Stand back, take deep breaths, clear your head, count backwards or receive your school teachers…something to take you mind off the process.

7) Stand on Solution #1, pantomime the answers as if you have to explain it to someone who can’t hear. Afterwards, stand back and access how it feltlt, did you feel hard like concrete, did you hands rub your head, eyebrows furrowed, hand on hips, or pointing. Just notice how you body enterpreted this.

8) Breathe again, mind off solution, and repeat for solution #2. Continue until you finish. What did your body say brought you the most energy? Where were your eyes wide open, arms up in the air, heart open, shoulders back? Which one brought you the most joy?

9) Work with the joyful one. Keep it in mind, you will get new ideas and take action. Remember, intuition acts one step at a time, since it is always in the present. Take that step, then you’ll get the next.

Have fun going In Tu It!

I wish I had a talent,

Such as a great singer, painter, surgeon, architect, dancer, athlete, entrepreneur, writer, etc. These are obvious talents that only skim the surface. But talents are limitless; open your definition to talent.

Your talent is your unique ability for a particular kind of action;

But let’s add this:

1) for the good of the whole. (which you might not see

but intuitively know)

2) that can be done anywhere, anytime. (not dependent on your job)

Once you are aware of your talent, you can work your purpose.

Perhaps your talent does not fall in the obvious category that is awed by the public, so you downplay it.

Is your talent hiding from you? Do you compare and critique other’s talents? Such as that singer has a small range; that dancer isn’t as good as; who would ever buy that painting. Do you look at talent as better than or less than? If you are doing that to others, can you imagine how hard you are on your talent? If you think you have no talent, can you blame it for staying hidden and not coming forth?

There is no better-than or less-than in your heart-based talent.

Let’s look at the ‘not so obvious’ talents. A great way to dig them up is to go back to daydreaming of what you loved to do or be when young…the time before you learned you were not talented or started comparing. Some of the talents in my childhood groups were:

The bossy girl who made sure our home-made basement plays got direction plus an audience. The tough kid who made sure all got included in the games played. The kid who loved to come up with new ways to blow things up, the girl who loved to count and organize, the costume maker, the socialite, the reader loaning her favorite book after she told you all about it.

They could not, ‘not’ be who they were, and every one of them delivered their talents freely…enriching all, (even the blow-up kid who fascinated us with science and always something new). They all shared who they were, and time flew by.

If you are not sure of your talent

1) Go a whole day without comparing, this will keep you busy for the month and/or forever.

2) Figure out when you feel full of your Self, when there is no sense of time. Bring back your daydreams you had for yourself as a child. Don’t criticize or compare, your critical brain does not get to be involved in this stage. This is time for your daydreaming to take over.

3) What do you see as your special unique skill that makes you feel full and timeless? Describe them and write them down. Don’t worry about how your will work with your talent at this stage. Just think of it daily and keep it in your awareness. Next month “Offering who you are.”
